I'm going to a sale Sat with about 10 Olivers. There is a 2150 D and 2 1850 gas that I'm looking at. I have a 770 and a 880 so these are uncharted territory for me. Are these models any good? What price range should they be in? One of the 1850s is wf with a cab but it says "hasnt run for a while" could I throw a diesel in it? Thanks guys!

Where is the sale and does it list condition of the 2150?

I went and looked at all of them tonight. The 2150 sounds good but has a faint knock starting that sounds like a rod bearing starting to loosen up. The pictures looked good, but up close most all of the tractors have been painted with a brush or can, and it looks like they bought whatever color of green was on sale. The sale is Sat. Go to Link and you can see the sale bill.

The 1850 gas and diesel have differant frames,so they are not as easy to switch as the 770's.

A motor out of a 17,18,or 1955 will fit in an 1850 gas tub.

Any waukesha/oliver from a 77 up to the 1855 will fit as said above, as the bolt spacing is the same. When I worked for an Oliver dealer we switched an 1800C gas which is the same front tub, to diesel using an 880 engine, and had basicly no problems. You may not want to switch it though as the gas motored 1850's are rarer than the diesels, and will actually start in the winter without a "wiff" of starting fluid.
