I have an 880 and the brakes are very bad. Does anyone know if they are disc brakes or band brakes? Also are they hard to replace? Any help with this is appreciated.

Assuming they're like 15-1650s, they are easy to work on. If they're sticking, it's probably rust in the brake actuator. This is easy to get apart after pulling the cover off, and can be polished up with a wire wheel. If you're out of peddle travel, there should be an adjustment with a jam nut to tighten. The disks can also be easily replaced if needed, they slip over a splined shaft. Take the cover off and look inside. You may need to compare the thickness of your disks with replacements to get an idea of how much wear you have. Good Luck.

Thanks for the information. The left brake is out of travel and is very weak. The right brake is also out of travel but going forward it catches hard and locks up, going backwards it doesn't work at all. I will take the covers off and check them. Thanks
