Buddy has a western Oliver diesel for sale. So far the offers are as high as $9,000.00 U.S. Is this tractor that rare!!!!

Rare is a relative term. First you have to define rare. Compared to John Deere or IH any Oliver is rare. An Oliver 990 is not real rare in terms of numbers made. They made a enough of them but they are desirable and the demand drives the price up. If a guy was willing to pay $9000 apiece for a 990 he could have as many 990s as he wants. There are plenty out there. The only way a 990 would be considered rare is if was selling cheap. A 990 selling for $3000 or less would be rare.

They're fairly rare, but the real demand is by pullers- They just love to run those screamin' Detroits around the grounds, always at full throttle! Actually, $9,000 is fairly reasonable for a 990, from what I've see, if its in good shape.

my grandpa has a 990 and dang it sure scream although the shifting pattern i still cant figure out
