Just got home from the Southern Ohio Antique Tractor Pullers Association annual show where they featured Olivers this year. The Buckeye Oliver Collectors were there with many pieces of the Finest in Farm Machinery. One very interesting piece that I saw was an 8160 tractor. I have never heard of this before. It seemed about the size of a 1950, but the cab seemed a bit fancier than most Oliver cabs I have seen. I believe that it had a Cummins engine in it (5.9 I think) and it belongs to a man in central Indiana. Anyone know more about this model??

I believe the owners name is Dale Hertel. He installs Cummins engine repowers into Oliver and white tractors.That tractor is a 1855 with a cummins engine and I am almost sure he said that it was a Duetz-Allis/AGCO surplus cab from the Coldwater, OH plant he bought at auction that is on it. I think he said the 5.9L Cummins was putting out about 145 Hp.And that he used it for planting, it had a radar on for ground speed.It is what a modern day OLIVER tractor would be like. N I C E ! ! !

That would be a heck of a rig, a modern day incarnation of the Oliver. A guy did something similar to that with a John Deere 5020. He put a 400 Cummins in the tractor with a special clutch and beefed up frame, then added a cab from a JD 4440 tractor and a hood from a JD 8850 4 wheel drive. then he called the result a 5050. A real beast!
