1855 project tractor

I groveled over a sweet Super 99 sitting in Ocala, I seen in the Hauling schedule it is going to OH.

I have been seeking an 1850 to repower as funds come available. Still in the weeds. . .

Do you feel guilty buying that tractor???? I thought I was the only person who got great deals on old Olivers.

The 1855 may have a White 2-105 rear end. You can tell easily by looking at the Axle Housings. If they are big and square, then it is the late model 1855. All the other earlier ones had round axle housings at the end.

The engine should have a built in Oil Cooler if it is a late model one. It is on the Right side of the engine as you sitting on the tractor.

I have one of the last 1855's built and I can tell you that they are Great. But when it was overhauled, they must not of put in the updates. If the updates ar installed, it will eliminate the engine throwing a rod.

This tractor sounds like a good buy to me . Personally I would not try to do anything with the block that you now have on this tractor . But that is just my opinion worth what you paid for it . Others may say fix the hole and then rebuild the engine . You might want to contact Shep who is on this web site a lot . Shep recently did a repower (I think a Cummings engine ) and a rework and repain of an 1855 with a cab which turned out beautifully .
