Good for you, Dave. The 310 can be a formidable pulling motor. If your 310 has received at least the upgraded rod bolts and wrist pin bushings, it will hold up quite well. One can also ensure the vibration dampener is in good condition, have the crankshaft/flywheel/rods/pistons balanced, and use high quality oils and change it often or increase oil capacity.

I pull with the 310 turbo myself and just last weekend beat out three JD 4020s, one IH 1066, a JD 4030, and a JD 4430 by a considerable margin. We pull a standard weight transfer sled. That little 310 sure had those guys shaking their heads. Granted, the injection pump does allow one to get a bit more than 108 hp out of the 310 and I would estimate this completely stock motor to be turning approximately 135 hp at high idle of 3000 rpm. Of course, the horsepower one can derive is limited only by one's checkbook!!

The 310 is a blast to pull so have fun! Know where to find the torque screw?
