I have an 1850 Oliver that has had the engine replaced. The only numbers on the engine are on the left side of the block they are 190320 and under that K1000. Can anyone tell me what this engine is? I need to put on a new distrubitor.

If those really are the two #s you have under the starter casted into the block, than what you have is a 1850 with an 880 oliver motor in it. Even with the 3 7/8 overbore she must struggle to run that big beast. Bob

Bob: The engine is a six cyl. gas. I havent pulled anything except a finishing mower, and a couple of stumps. Feels like it has plenty of power. Could there be more numbers somewhere?

Dave, there are other #s on the head and in the block, but with those two #s your referring to on the block behind the starter, there is no doubt but that its an 880 motor. The 880 motor is no sludge by any means, 6 cylinder, 265 cu., 65 hp, 283 if it has the overbore kit in it and probably about 72 hp. It will do you a good job in there for mowin and hauling stumps and the likes, but if ya hook onto 5-16s ya might be lookin for a very low gear. Anyways, dont worry about it, the 880 motor is better than the original 310 anways. Any distributor out of an oliver 6 cylinder without vacum advance will work in that motor but if you want one with the tack drive you will have to use one out of super 77- 88, 770 or 880 oliver Also the 1600, 1650 ones will work Bob

Bob: Thanks for the info. I just wanted to get the tach working and the manual I ordered for an 1850 showed it going to the distribtor. So I expected a different engine. Thanks again. Dave
