I JUST RECIEVED A STUCK 77. THE CARB,EXHAUST,AND INTAKE ARE ALL JUNK. SOMEONE HERE MENTIONED USEING A INTAKE FROM AN 1600 FOR MORE AIR? I JUST WANT TO REPLACE THESE ITEMS WITH THE BEST FOR GETTING THE MOST HP OUT OF THE OLD GAL. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

I hope the following will help you,I received this from a major poster on this board when asking the same question.
The 1550 Oliver used the same basic block as the 77/Super 77/770. The early 1600 Olivers also used this style block until 1964, when it was changed to the 265 cu. in. engine from the 880.Prior to that, the 1600 used the 232 cu. in. engine which was the block style from the 77. The difference in engines is in port spacing.You will probably need to measure as closely as you can the distance between ports on the intake and exhaust and compare that to the manifolds you are looking at off a 1600, unless you can verify that these manifolds came off an early 1600 with the 77 style block. I have not seen a 770 intake to know if it's bigger on the runners.The 1550 is(but it was on a friends tractor-I think he'd miss it if I borrowed it).I'm looking at right now having a jig made up to be able to cut down and shorten the intake nanifolds of 1600's to fit the 77.If I do we would be able to make them pretty easy.Would others be interested in this? keddano, would it be safe to just get a 1550 intake, or is the 1600 bigger yet? what about carbs? i see 3 listed on this site for about 150$ for the 77. is any one bigger? thanks again.
