I have a chance to buy a Oliver 55 Super.
Second gear was gone so the owner tore it apart.
The cover is off and all the gears are out. There
are pieces of gear stripped off laying in the bottom of the transmission case. Are these gears
available new or used, about how expensive and where can you order them from? Thanks
Oh yeah, about what is this tractor worth?

I don't know if you can get new gears from Agco, but you wouldn't want to. I can't imagine how expensive they would be. I know that Everson Farm Equipment in Everson Washington has a couple of parts tractors, and I have seen some of the gears there, but I don't know which ones you need. However, there are lots of used parts dealers around. A good running tractor should be around $3000, but they go up and down from there. I've seen some decent ones for $2,000 and some beautiful restored ones for $4,000 and up. If the tin is in good shape that is a plus, also if it has the external hydraulic control. Power steering is rare too.

The one you are looking at should be highly negotiable with the tranny ripped apart. I like my Super 55, but it's just a hobby for me. A lot of fellows who work them a lot love them, and the 550.
