DOes anyone know about any Cockshutt websites? And, how good are they the COckshutt tractors?

The cockshutts are a very good tractor. First to have LPTO, and other modern options before many of the competitors and the tractors are real workhorses. I own a nest of square noses. All are being restored and all except one will be used in the field. The 560 had a weak engine. Prone to braking cranks and cracking heads. Because of the heavily built rear ends many are used in pulling contests and many are handling many times the horsepower they left the factory with.

Thanks Rem. What about the 540? How good is that? I have tried the www.cockshutt.com website. And, the Conteniantal engine in them, are they any good?

My experience has focused on the hercules and perkins. Never heard much negative about the contentinal. The main reason the 560 Cockshutt with the 4-270 perkins, had problems was the crank had only 3 mains. Also, our observations are (no conclusions) when the PS began to leak from wear the fan pulled the oil into the radiator which in turn pulled in dusk causing an insufficient cooling which in turn caused an overheaded engine to have problems. I'd not be afraid to own a contentinal. Best of luck,

Thanks REM. I think I am going to look at a 540 with a continantil(spelling?) engine in it. I am really interested in these engines.
