I have just purchased an 1800 Oliver that is missing the serial # tag. Is the serial number of this tractor located any where else? If not how can I tell the difference between types a,b,and c 1800's?

Thanks for any help,
Bob

The a was the earliest series, made 1960-1962, The B came out in 1963, had the tapered "Oliver" name plate on the hood, rated speed increased to 2200 RPM, the gas was bored .012" for 8% more power, the diesel stroked for more compression and 10% more power. The "C" of 1964 had full hydraulic power steering, tilt-and-tel-steering wheel, changed throttle lever and a creeper gear option. LArry's idea of checking the casting numbers is a good one, the most positive, but a quick check is look for the tapered "Oliver" name plate, and a tilt-and-tel-steerring wheel to tell the a from the b or c. Hope this helps

You can get under the tractor and look for the dates on the major castings. The numbers are like this day/month/year.

The A series had round port intake and the B and C had a square port.
