Hydraulic problems in 1974 White 2-105

The hydraulic pump in my White 2-105 seems to be starving for fluid. We have put the second new replacement pump on it now and it still has the same ringing, twangy-type cyclic noise resulting in the slow lifting of implements. We have replaced the suction lines and we discarded the old canister-type hudraulic filter for a new screw-on filter system with no improvement. I don't want to burn up the second new hydraulic pump. Our dealer doesn't seem to have anyone who can help with this problem. I hate to throw away my old faithful iron horse, even though I am close to the Gulf of Mexico, where they need discarded equipment for snapper reefs!

i would suggest checking the main relief valve. we normally have to add about 1/16 to 1/8 inch of shim. it is the closest of the three plugs below the pump. screw it out and you'll probably see a couple of beat up shims. try adding a bit to them and see if this helps. you can always go back, but it quiets a lot of them
