I have thoroughly tuned up 2 1800 gas tractors with "B" engs. Both are used for mowing, and run great till weather gets hot (95+ degrees), then comes the sputtering & backfiring after eng warms up. I was told the problem could be vapor lock. What is vapor lock and how do you stop it? Any other ideas? Thanks, John

See the previous post titled can't this be easy.
I think you may have the same problem.

You may try cutting 6 to 12 inches of that steel fuel line out and installing a piece of rubber line or find some way of sheilding heat away from the fuel line. This may alow the gas to cool before reaching the carb. I have also heard of installing a nonflamable type of insulated sheild between the fuel tank and engine.

Vapor lock is when the gas is just starting to boil in the fuel lines. This usually only happens on systems with pumps. Gravity flow systems will usually keep enough pressure on the gas to prevent the fuel from boiling much. Hope this helps, Brian.
