Just bought a 1955 oliver hi crop sugar cane tractor. Is this a real rare tractor? I need the side sheet metal for it but its mostly there. Can it be brought back down to row crop hight? Driving it home in the morning so I will know a little more about it then>

any high crop tractor will bring more money than a regular one in indentical condition. You would be better off trading or selling outright if you want a conventional tractor

I agree. I would keep this gem as is and get another Oliver if you want a conventional row-crop tractor. I'm sorry I can't give you any actual production numbers for a 1955 hi-crop, but you should know you have something fairly scarce on your hands.
