I AM WONDERING WHAT YOUR THOUGHTS ARE ON THE 2150 OLIVERS. I THINK THE HAD A 476 TURBO WHITE ENGINE DIDN'T THEY? I ENJOY GOING TO TRACTOR PULLS AND ALL YOU SEE ARE IH'S AND DEERE'S. WHEN I TALK ABOUT LIKING OLIVER'S THEY ALL MAKE FUN OF ME SAYING OLIVER DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING BUT THE LITTLE 310, OF COURSE I REMIND THEM OF THE 3208 CAT. BUT WHEN I SAY THIS THEY SAY A MOTOR ABOUT THE SIZE OF THE 466 DEERE. SO I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR YOU ALL ON HOW THE 2150 COULD BE TURNED UP IF IT WOULD STAY TOGETHER. WOULD IT COMPETE WITH DEERE'S AND IH'S. THANKS

I have done some looking into this and can offer the following.

Advantages: Stong bottom end, large CID to start with (should be capable of 600 CID w/o too much trouble. Lots of them laying around in Military vehicles and the like.

Disadvantages: The heads are junk for pulling purposes. If you stick with diesel, they have a two hole injector system which can not be changed due to the way the air flows through the head. A hot pump will not do you any good with these injectors.

The best thing to do is as mentioned to run them on alcohol where you throw the head away and make your own. I think you will see more of this combination in the future.

Bill, same here. I do think the 478 cu. in. Hercules would make a great pulling engine. They were a stoutly built motor. I want to do the same thing someday with perhaps a 2-135/155 chassis and teach those 4440s/4640s and IH tractors a thing or two. And depending upon how competitive one needs to be, I have thought about starting with the pump and replacing the injection pump with an in-line style if allowed or having an injection shop rebuild the rotary to deliver more fuel. I think the nozzles themselves are large enough to handle more fuel, but time will tell. Then the largest permissible turbo I would plumb in. The bottom end should take lots of hp but I think the above would be a cost-effective start to a great pulling engine. But for now, I just pull that little 310 that everyone underestimates. And the Deere guys hate it when I beat their 404s, as the IH guys do when I beat their 414s with 466 cranks in them. How about 900 hp out of that little 310? While mine doesn't have nearly that much, I do know a gentleman who pulls in hotter classes than I do with 310s turning 900 hp. So don't take a back seat from anybody about Oliver's 'little' 310. More air, more fuel, and more rpms are all it takes to get serious hp out of the 310, provided you use performance rods, etc. I've also seen 3208s built up for pulling, but they just don't have the bottom end that the 6 cylinders do. Good luck in your endeavors.

I don't know how it will turn out but some guys in Wisconsin were building a lt super using the big herc motor. Haven't heard if they finished it or not. The Lulich family has one if they have not sold it, since Mr. Lulich passed away around a year ago. He had it priced for 20,000 which seemed to be a good price for all the work he had done to the ol rig. I have a motor sitting here that I just can't seem to find the time to get it in a tractor.

I have a 2-155 White with the hercules engine, and I've been wanting to get some injection mods to go against the turned up 4440's and 4640's. I've been told that these engines can withstand lots of hp as long as you can keep them cool. To solve this? No muffler so it's just a straight pipe, (which is also neat 'cause you hear the turbo better) and get louvres cut in the side panels for better air flow. Hehehe...look out JD's!!!
