I have a 1950-T and I am wanting to put a Caterpillar in it. Has anyone ever done this. What size should I put. They make one around this size I think might fit in it.

If you want a Cat, you might try a 3208 V-8 Cat. These were used in Olivers and White for many years, in fact the Oliver 2255 used it and is a kick-A puller. For this reason it might be easier to swap, since it has been used in Olivers parts tto adapt it might be easier to get.

Hi, Chas! The Caterpillar engine that would work the best for your 1950-T is the model 3056. This is the newest version of the old 354 Perkins that Oliver and White used for many years, with great success. Caterpillar purchased Perkins Engine Company in recent years, so they have this engine to offer, in the market that tends to be dominated by the Cummins 6B5.9. The beauty of the Cummins conversion is that so many parts are available to bolt the engine directly into an Oliver chassis. The Caterpillar conversion will require you to make a lot of parts, including a PTO drive hub to fit inside the Cat flywheel. I have had these custom made before, at significant cost. It would make a beautiful tractor engine. Check with your local Caterpillar distributor about available options. Best wishes! Merlin

Hi Chas,

I saw you not on the oliver forum. I have a white 1628 front loader with a 6 cyl diesel. Any idea if a cummins 6b would bolt up to that.. I just got it yesterday..
