Oliver 70 problem

Hi, We just installed an engine rebuild kit in the '38 Oliver 70 RC. We're trying to fire it up but all it wants to do is run for 2 seconds and then quit. All the wiring is new, new spark plugs, carb was just rebuilt. I'll check the timing one more time, after that I'm stumped. It seems to have enough gas because the spark plugs are wet. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Jeff.

Thanks for the help guys. I found what the problem was. The wire connecting the starter push button to the amp meter was on the wrong post. It was with the starter cable instead of the battery cable. So it would only run while the button was held in. Jeff.

2 posilities fuel and spark the ignition sys. could be grounding out ck wire at points has happened to me or compression could be blowing sprk away from plug, plug gap usualy stops this. but be careful putting spark and gas together in an uncontroled enviorment!!!!! hope it helps.

The float may have stuck in down position,tap very lightly on carb bowl,then try to restart.

Sounds like possible fuel problem to me.
