I have a question for all you Ollie "Guru's". About a month ago when I went to chisel plow the garden my 1850 didn't seem like it wanted to raise the chisel plow. I checked the fluid and it was a little low so I added some. But, it got to were you would have to play with it to get it to raise . Then it wouldn't raise it at all , it just growled . Then it might take off and start working just fine. Then after awhile , same story. It sounds to me like a pressure relief valve. What do you all think? If so, where is it located on the 1850. I'm new to the Ollie scene. I've always worked on IH's and AC's.

TIM wanted to reply to comments If you steering and hydralic don't work your pump is more than likely not putting out pressure the pump pumps through a deverter that send pressure to the steering first then the hydralics, the question is is your pump drive working it drives off your pto drive shaft that runs to the back of the tractor if your pto is not working it might be your pto drive it runs off the center of the flywheel. It is not a major job to pull the pto driveshaft if it is not working it runs back to the back of the tractor and can be pulled out of the back(could have spline problems on front)(it is pulled out of the hole above the rear pto shaft) get a good I+T shop manual. if your hydrlic fluid is full your drive may have problems or your pump may be out. you can buy an aftermarket pump 420-$550. but you will have to pull the hydralic housing you will need a hoist and shop manual.

You might want to change the hydraulic filter too.

Scott the pressure relief valve is on the right front corner of the hyd housing. It is about an 1 1/8"- 1 1/4" hex cap that holds it in. Like the other post, you didn't state if it was the 3PH or remotes causing the trouble. Post back with more info, WB.

Sorry about the lack of info. I guess it would help to know those things. The 3 point works fine. It's the remote that I'm having trouble with. Thanks for all of you all's input.

Try changing the quick disconnnects on the tractor or chisel plow. I had a similar problem with our white. The wings on the disk went up ands down and occasionally didn't want to work at all. The grinding or chattering sound you are hearing is the relief blowing. Try another remote outlet, or change the quick disconnects,I really think this is your problem.

It may be the Restrictor Valve is sticking or just set too restrictive. This will cause the Relief Valve to blow, causing a buzzing noise. Try turning it a few turns counterclockwise. Make sure the Bleed Screw is turned all the way in (clockwise) for double acting cylinders or 3 turns (counterclockwise) for single acting.

Scott, if your refering to your 3 pt lift arms, I'd point my finger at the SERVO valve, located under the cover of the hydraulic reservoir. I assume your steering and brakes are working fine so as to eliminate the hydraulic pump its self from being the cause. hope this helps Ken

I agree with the other two posts except I do not think hydraulics will matter on 1850 brakes . Brakes on 1850 was mechanically activated while those on 1855 were hydraulic activated . You need to clear up if problem is 3ph or remotes or both .
