I have come by a 1355 with a 4cyl diesel. It has been parked for a few years but was running when parked. It has anti-freeze in the oil pan but the oil is not milky. Does anyone know where this could be coming form?

I am in the process of rebuilding the identical tractor and I had the exact same problem. The only thing wrong with mine was a cracked sleeve that cost $30.00. It is very easy to fix and very easy to identify when you pull the head off.Give me a call if you need help finding parts and I'll give you the number.

One thing is for sure donot start the engine or you will be putting bearings in the thing is there any oil in the rad. sounds like it has leaked past the sleaves from setting for a few years IMHO

There are always idiots trying to make smart aleck comments to a man with a legitimate concern. I found nothing funny about the psychic comment. Maybe someday these two morons will have a problem and I can offer some wisecrack that will brighten their day!! My suggestion for diagnosing the problem of coolant in the oil pan would be this: drain the oil from the engine and leave the drain plug out. Put a pressure tester on the radiator and pump pressure into the cooling system. If coolant runs out the drain plug hole, a likely leak source would be a crack in the block, leaky cylinder sleeve o-rings, or a cracked cylinder sleeve. If coolant does not run out the drain plug hole, next remove either the intake and exhaust manifolds or an injector. Pressurize the system and crank the engine. If coolant runs out the head ports or injector hole, then the problem is most likely a cracked head or a failed head gasket. A caution here....the remaining injectors may have to be removed if nothing has leaked by now. If the gasket seal is breeched in a cylinder that still has an injector in it, you may get a false sense of security. With a gas engine, the plugs can be removed and it is a lot easier. Coolant can leak out the oil pan with a bad head gasket, but it will flow faster with a block problem. Hope you are more helped than confused by the above. Good luck and all the best..... Greg

Excuse me, Jackie boy!! I meant no offense, but giving a man a stupid, smart aleck answer to an obviously vexing problem is rude and unnecessary. Such replies do not exhibit a sense of humor, they show one's lack of concern for others and a general lack of courtesy. Perhaps rather than flaming me and taking up valuable space on this board, you should offer a carefully considered reply and try to help the man out with his problem. Best regards.....Greggy boy

Your guess is good as mine . You need to crack open the engine to view where the damage is from but I know of a good psichic hotline that could do the trick too.

Cracked block, blown head gasket, cracked head. Could be anything like that.
