Oliver 70 Question

Have a question.

There's a hole on the right side, low below the insturment panel that I don't know the function of.

It looks like there was an electrical wire running to it at one time.

Here's a link to a large picture of the hole.

Any help you can give as to what this is for would be appreciated.

The one that is bigger is what I described before (For the foot throttle)

But the other hole in the very lower corner is about 1/2 inch in diameter,... It is on all 3 of my Oliver 70's (Industrial and Row Crop) and there are no uses for it that I know of.

Maybe they were alignment holes for fabrication when the panel was made. There is one on the left side also,.,..

Maybe they were put there for a reason, but that is beyond me!

It was for the Foot Throttle rod to go through. Most Industrial, Standard, and some Row Crops had foor throttles, or were added later.

Foot throttles worked in conjunction with the existing hand throttle on the steering column. They were great for using a loader, or when you needed more power quickly, then letting it go back to 1/2 throttle.

I can post a pic on here of my Industrial 70 if you need one to see what a foot throttle and linkage look like if needed.

It also looks like there was an electrical lead to this socket.
