HELP!!---Oliver 88 Disk Brake Job

I'm working on my 88 disk brakes and am having a heck of a time getting the bull pinion extension through the disk actuating assembly. I went through and made sure the balls and plates were okay, and installed the three new retaining springs. Is there a trick to getting the splined extension through the springs so that they ride in the relief between the splines? Thanks in advance, Brian.

Did this not long ago on a 1953 which sounds like it has the same bull pinion extensions you describe. I did have the extensions off but put them back on first, then a brake disc, removed the actuating rod from the disc assy, pushed the assy with springs over the splines (straight & level) and then finished up.

As I recall, the assy will come out without removing the actuating rod, but it doesn't want to go back in that way (crooked).
