OOC cylinder/piston questions

Hello all,

I just purchased a 1937 Cletrac with an OOC motor. The head was left off the engine with two pistons removed for about 10 years-shedded. The cylinders have just a bit of surface rust and I'm hoping a good honing will do it. My question is that there is a very slight ridge at the top of the cylinder where the piston stroke stopped. Should I try to remove this thru honing or leave it alone and insert the pistons from the bottom. I dont really think it's ready for an over-bore yet. The tractor, believe it or not, has hardly been used in it's life. Any insight?

The next question is what is the best way to dress the pistons? Is there such a thing as a piston hone or will I just have to use a very fine emory cloth. Any other ideas?

You need to check your bore size with your pistons. I have rebuilt several OOC motors and would have any parts you are short. Email me your phone number and I will visit with you about the motor. Which crawler is the OOC in. Spark
