OC-3 starter

Bendix stuck on my OC-3, over reved the starter (my fault I had the throtle up a bit) and threw one of the windings into the field cores.

Anyone know of a starter that will cross from something else. These are week in that the shaft is unsupported on the end and the bendix (drive gear) is pulled into the flywheel ring. I wonder if that is the only starter that will fit.

I will see if I can find someone to rewind it on monday. since it looks rebuildable. Any ideas? ever have a starter rewound? Thanks Vince
