I'm going to a consignment auction next week. There's going to be a 1655, 1750 w/perkins deisel, and 1850 there. I'm looking to buy a tractor that can handle my smaller 3-pt back-hoe. I've owned a 1550, 1550STD and a 1650 that are all gas, all of these tractors at this auction are Deisel. Are the Oliver Deisels good engines? They all have wide-fronts and are suposed to run real well, how much should I pay for these tractors? What should I look for? Thanks Alot!

The 1850 is a strong tractor - the diesel is a perkins 6 cylinder. The motor runs a higher rpm than the oliver diesels did, but they run real strong. Check the water pump for cracks and the radiator as well ( both can be suspect and hard to find). The 1850 is the most powerful of the three you mentioned, but it is probably as versatile as the others, so if you have the chance, get it! Anything under $6,000 is fair, as long as the motor is in good shape.

My dad owns an Oliver 1650 and a 1655 diesel. They are a very good tractor. He payed around $5,000 for the 1655. My uncle owns a 1750 diesel and it runs pretty good. An 1850, I think, is an excellent tractor. I hear that the gas 1850's take quite a bit of fuel but the diesel models were great. I hope this helps you!!!

Just curious about your 1655 serial number ?
Where are you located and where did you get the 1655 at ? I am looking for a specific serial numbered Oliver 1655 diesel tractor.The serial number is 245986-490. This tractor was bought by a family member in May 1974 but eventually got traded and may have found its way up to Bowling Green, Ohio and possibly into Canada in the 1976-1978 time frame. I have been searching for it for a long time. I was going to email this to you but could not get your address. You can email me back if you would rather keep this information confidential.
