Does someone know how far to paint the yellow under the grill of a 88 Oliver?I have seen some tractors where the cast under the grill is yellow just about till where the grill ends on the side. Then there is other ones that have a strip of yellow almost to the back of the tub .Does this have something to do with what year it is ?We have a 1952 88 and am wondering how far to paint the yellow. Thanks

You are correct in assuming the color scheme is related to year model.

Best as I can remember 1950 and earlier had the sripe down the sides of the frame and top of the hood. 1951 and up had yellow only back to the edges of the grill.

If you look at the sides of the front frame you may or may not see a raised ridge running down the sides of the frame. If the ridge is present, the painted stripe follows the ridge. If there is no ridge, there is no stripe.

I think jerry b. is correct except that I have a 52 88 that has the boss on the side. when cleaned for painting no evidence of yellow was found. We painted ours green. Maybe when built the older frame was still in inventory? jimg
