Hello, Friends and Neighbors! As I type this from my desk here in Saint Paul, it is snowing! We had temperatures in the low 90's only a few days ago! Gotta love it, 'cause complaining does't help! This is information for anyone who wants to improve the airflow and cooling on their Oliver/Moline/White tractor. There is a company in Burton, Ohio that manufactures custom-made fan assemblies for any application. I first used them in 1993, when I installed a 6B Cummins engine into a 1650 Oliver. Cummins did not have a fan small enough in diameter, so the great folks at Crowley set us up with a beautiful, twelve-blade unit. It will practically suck the hat off of your head, at full throttle! I have used them as a fan source for several re-power applications. Their phone number is 216-834-9400, or find them on the Web at Link They have a high-quality product, and are very helpful. I would recommend that anyone with a 310 Waukesha look into getting either a six or eight blade fan from these folks. It certainly will help extend the life of your engine. Oliver had a lot of good ideas, but putting a four-blade fan on a turbocharged engine was not one of them! Hot weather and hay season will soon be upon us: keep that Meadow Green beauty running cool! Merlin, could you give more details about the 6 or 8 blade fan that you used before? I called the Crowley Company this morning, and they asked me for horsepower for the fan, static pressure, airflow, and rpms. I didn't know what to tell them or where I can get this info. Thanks for your help. By the way, the current # for Crowley Co. has been changed to 440-834-9400. (Note the area code difference)

Hi, RB! You will need to provide Crowley with the following information: 1)The size of the fan hub hole in the current Waukesha/Oliver fan 2)The overall fan diameter 3)To figure the speed, measure the diameter of the fan pully, then measure the diameter of the crankshaft pulley. The difference betwen these diameters will give you a drive ratio(for example 1:1.2, or something like that). Multiply that drive ratio by the engine full no-load speed (appr. 2500 RPM's) and you will have the airflow, factoring in the fan diameter. Be sure to specify that you want a sucker fan, and that you want to INCREASE the existing airflow, NOT match the factory airflow. They will send you a two-piece machined hub, along with a set of blades that are held into the hub by retaining bolts. It is a very strong, efficient and lightweight setup. What would be really nice is if you could purchase one, and then please post the model/part number on this site. This fan would be a great idea for anyone who owns a Waukesha-powered Oliver. If you can get rid of the heat, the eingine will last a lot longer. The fan that I installed on the 1650 with the Cummins had this part number: 16-12-3R-PAG-45. That means that it was a 16" diameter, 12-blade unit. Let me know how this works out for you! Merlin P.S. You might want to mention to the folks at Crowley that there could be a significant demand for an "Oliver Special" fan for the Waukesha-powered units, if they wanted to keep a record of your specifications for future purchases by Oliver owners.

What do those fans normally go for??? I have a 2150 that has some overheating issues when pulling hard and was thinking of putting a bigger fan in it. Any ideas on the price of these things???

Hi, Shep! I hope that the weather in Florida is better than it is here: we are supposed to get snow again this weekend! The last time I bought a fan from Crowley (mid-'90's) it cost me $127.00 plus freight. It was well worth the money! If you can double the airflow across the radiator on you Hercules, it will certainly help. If you noticed, when White put the Hercules into the 2-135/2-155, they went with a much larger radiator. Even then, some of them run too hot. The engine doesn't have a cross-flow head, which seems to increase exhaust temperatures. Give Crowley a call; they have an excellent product! Merlin
