hi guys, Im about 95% sure Im going to buy an Oliver Super 55 from a local fella. We have 50 acres and are looking for a nice utility tractor. This will be my first tractor so I don't know much about them. This one seems to be in good shape, nice paint. no major leaks, no smoke. I won't be able to get it for less than $3,500 what do you think. It may need rear tires in a couple years. Also would I be able to find a users manual for it? Thanks for any help you can provide.

55's are great tractors, I have a 1955 and a 1957. User manuals come up on ebay once or twice a month [I&T 0-11. The are found under business and equipment, search oliver and this will bring up parts,books etc. Original prices of the manual were $2.50 to $7.50 but they range up to $30 depending om the bidding. that is the going rate for a good solid Super 55. Check out the rear axle seals for leaks, the steering, and the front axle for excessive wear. I am guessing this tractor doesn't have power steering, it was rare. Does it have an external hydraulic control, also worth at least $500 alone. It is a darn good tractor, but don't put a loader on the front if you don't have power steering.

You can get a manual from ebay if you keep an eye out. Or go to the link below. they have most of the manuals on Oliver tractors and equipment.

By the way, even my wife says get the Super 55. That should carry some weight. She says no to almost everything else!

so it runs, the tin is in good shape, good paint. everything works, i guess -- 3-point, PTO, etc.....

if so, 3500 is about the going rate in my neck of the woods.

if the rear tires are really bad, you might offer 3250 or so, but 3500 is about the norm, i'd say.
