Yeah, the engines you put in are lots of times worth more than the tractor, and if you were to sell it you would not get your money out of them. Cummins Oliver tractors are only worth about $7,000 to sell when you first convert them. I convert them not to sell them, but to use them on the farm. By doing these conversions I can have a good tough tractor with a new modern engine that will do the work of a $50,000 new tractor (that I would have to have to run the farm) at a fraction of the price. So yes, you can have an easy $7,000 to $10,000 wrapped up in a conversion and painting, and new seats, and misc other stuff on top of buying the tractor, but then you can work on it yourself, without paying a shop big bucks to plug into your tractor computer, and it should run forever. Tell me how many new tractors will be around when they are 33 years old..... . Some of my Olivers will be around another 33 years, I hope. So what I always tell people if you want to convert a tractor to a Cummins, do it if you are going to run it and use it yourself and want a good strong tractor, but dont do it if you are going to sell the tractor, because you will never come out.
