I am planning to pull the engine in my 77 to weld the cracked block and was wondering where to connect the chains to lift it out with the hoist? Thanks for any advice.

One of the head studs should be longer than the rest. Just clean up the treads and put a lifting eye on it. I made one by bending a piece of rod and welding it to a square plate with a hole in the middle. I hope that helps, and good luck welding the block.

Father, and I just pulled our OC-6 engine (same block as 77). We removed the head, and just bolted a chain to the block at two points where the head bolts go (front, and back). If your block is cracked from being frozen, check it closely for longitudal cracks between the cylinders internally. That's what happened to ours, and we ended up having to replace the block.
