i have a 1944 oliver 60 that wont run right.. I put new point and condenser in it,and it still wont run right.... I took apart the carb everything was clean and looked good acept the tube piece that goes right under the throttle butterfly.. IT had a small crack on the top of it.. could that be the problem... The motor will start fine, then it will sputter, and then catch back up like it is running out of gas. i check for gas flow, its good through the line, and into the carb, even out of the plug on the bottom of the carb... so now what??

The small tube you describe is the main jet. If cracked, it could be sucking air and cause the problem. A more likely cause is an air leak in the intake, possibly where the manifold bolts to the head, or where the carb bolts to the manifold. Check these out, hope this helps.
