Which one of the 99's would be the best: Super 99 GM. Super 99 gas. Super 99 diesel 6 cylinder. Can anyone tell me about a Oliver 90?

If you are looking for a Super 99, it depends on what you really want. The gm diesel has the most power, the 6 cyl. Oliver diesel won't drive you crazy with the noise and is fairly fuel efficient, or the 6 cyl Oliver gas engine is a very rare find, and highly collectible. They also had a large appetite for gasoline.

Can't comment on first part but have had a 90 since new in '48 - well I was about a month old when it arrived!
It's the low compression engine which can run on kerosene - so cheaper to run than on petrol. Easy starter (on the handle). Pulls like a train. Good manifold which warms up quickly.
Maybe was prone to losing oil supply to governor and rocker. Mine had to have a replacement governor early in its life - threw the weights through the housing. Finally no lube to rockers and a valve dropped in - it ran at fast idle until it seized.
It laid in a barn for about 30 years before I rescued it, but I'm glad I did. The governor bearings were both shot and the lube to these needs watching carefully - one, easily blocked, feed pipe.
We take it or drive it (up to 90 miles round trip) to shows where it always gets quite a bit of attention.
Usually the only one at shows although there are a few around which are not run like ours.

We have also done a little ploughing with it recently.
We just like it so much we bought an 80 to keep it company.

You can probably work out from the spellings that this one resides in UK.
The C66 gears are a must for road use, but I wouldn't be surprised if they would plough in top gear with the C33 and light going!
The other thing that mine needs is a good seat - the old one is badly rotted.
The biggesr drawback in the UK for showing it is it's weight - really need a lorry to transport to be legal- (most people don't drive them very far).

How would I go about getting a copy of this issue of Harr-Parr/Oliver Collectors Association mag. how would I prescribe to this Magazine. I should would like to have a 90, but don't know if my pockets are deep enough thanks for your reply.
