Know what a terrible feeling you get when you go to a consignment auction where they sold a 1956 Super 55 with a factory Oliver loader, auxilliary hydraulics, factory drawbar, perfect condition, diesel, with 1100 original hours. It sold for $2400 and I didn't have enough. UGH.

I know how you feel. This weekend I went out of town and my dad went to the goat sale, when I got back he told me that a 100% Boer billy sold for only $38! Any other time he would have went for $150-200.

Don't feel bad...been there, did that! Infact, I'm usually a day late and a dollar short. All that crying on the way home is "good for the soul."

The thing about consignment sales is that the owners of the tractors often buy their tractors back if they don't sell for enough $$$. Could have been what happened with that super 55, unless you know who the owner is.

They said the owner wasn't going to be there just before they auctioned it, but you are right, I didn't think of that. If it wasn't the owner that got it, they got a HECK of a bargain. I paid more for mine, and it's in 5 times worse shape.

I know the feeling,... I looked at an Oliver 1950T at a big farm, they tore the engine apart. Had the engine laid all over the floor, and needed a total rebuild. I offered $500.00 and the owner said he didn't want to sell it for that price.

In the spring, it was taken to the auction, and went for $450.00,... (Wife made me go away that weekend) Would of broken my arm getting the cash out of my pocket if I was there.

Anyway, I know what you mean by missing deals by either not having enough $$$$ or being in the wrong place at the right time (Somewhere else)

Think most everyone has had this feeling at one time or another.
