You don't indicate whether its a "Cockshutt" Cockshutt, or an "Oliver" Cockshutt. There was a model 550 in each line- the "genuine" item is more of a row-crop model, with Hercules engine, while the Oliver is the same as a 550 Oliver- a utility tractor about the same physical size as an 8N Ford. The Oliver version is worth more, but both are good tractors and certainly worth the money.

If I was you I would SNAP it up immediately if in any kind of shape at all. The 550 is an extremely popular utility tractor. Prices keep climbing N.

If you don't want it drop me a line, I would be interested if is a Dsl. Need a stablemate for the Oliver 550.

Hi,
Buy it!!
I've owned a number of cockshutts and the 550 is a very powerful tractor for it's size. The 550 with the herc when tested in Nebraska was one of the strongest pullers, ever. It was the strongest tractor I've ever driven for it's size. It is worth much more than 1000 georges.
Good Luck,

Thankyou for your replies. I should have made myself clearer, its a Cockshutt with a 198 cid Herc gas engine, no PS. It sounds like its worth it.
