I have a 3208 Caterpillar engine in my shop. I am about to put this bad boy together in my T. Has anyone done this before or even heard of it. Will the rear end hold up just for tractor pulling? How much power could I get out of this engine? I think it will be awesome because this tractor will be much lighter than the 2255's that had them in it.

3208 with a turbo will run around 250hp or so.

Hi, Bill! Your project is do-able, mainly because there is no finer mix-and-match product than the Oliver and White tractor line. I re-powered these tractors with Cummins engines for seven years, and the interchangeability of components made it easier than most other brands. You will need to locate an Over/Under unit from a 2255, complete with clutch housing. You will need to either convert the 1950-T transmission to an enclosed, oil type coupler, or convert the 3-speed to a chain coupler. Also, you will have some major wheel-speed issues, since the 2255 used planetary reduction to obtain useable speeds from an engine that is governed at 3050RPM's. A "2250-T" would be a real rocket, to be sure! I thought about it once, but went the Cummins route with my 1950-T four wheel drive, instead. Sounds like fun! Merlin
