Oliver 1650 Utility?

I have come across mention of a "1650 Utility" and am wondering if this is an actual model produced by Oliver, or user conversion?

Also, if a 1650 Utility was produced by Oliver, how many were made? I like the idea of the power of the 1650 in a squater version.

This may be a dumb question, but how hard would it be to convert a "standard" 1650 into a lower profile tractor?

I have a 1600 oliver desiel utility model (18.4-28 rears) with a 1610 oliver loader on it. I just love this tractor, have had it for a number of years and use it for some snow removal contracts that i have. Its the nicest starting and working tractor i have ever owned and is great for getting around because of the set back front axle. I often feel i could go out and spend 25000.00 and end up with something that wouldnt be as good. It also is fitted with a factory cab. These tracors are commonly referred to as "wheatlands, or standards". I am certain they were made in the 1550, 1555, 1600, 1650. Maibach has one for sale @$4900 (1650), but may need some work. I know of a 1550 Cockshutt, same as Oliver 1550 for most part, that has the same front end, gas, @3100. Does need valve job, but not major.

We have a 2-78 (Oliver 1655) White that has 28 inch ruber on it and big heavy tires on the front and a much heavier axle. The models that you referred to are not utility tractor's. They have the underslung front end but are still a row crop tractor (like the one at maibach's). Our 2-78 has a reverso-torc trany that once it is put in gear you push a pedal that works the trottle and makes it go forward or in reverse depending on which pedal you push. Great tractor and would not trade it for the world. They used this tractor for the backhoe that they made, ie the 2-78-15 which is a two wheel drive tractor that is 78hp and has a 15 foot hoe.

I have a 1555 utility and have seen the 1650 version.They have the tuck(short wheelbase)front axel.They allso have 28 inch rear rubber on the 1555 its 16.9-28.My 1555 has differant gearing than the row crop,the slow speeds are about the same but 5and6 are faster.This leaves a larger gap between 4 and 5,and evan with the hydro-power it makes it hard to use 5th for anything but a travel gear.Thease tractors feature lower mounted fenders and step on the front battery boxes.I have no idea how many where made.Shep has some pictures.

this is really interisting since I know next to nothing about four digit tractors. My tractor has 34 in rear wheels but the fenders are short and have mounting brackets that are double tall and have two sets of four mounting holes so you could put on 28 inch tires. my tractor is a late 68 and has the notched steering arms like a 1655 and the ability to move the front tires in real close [ I will check center line]. the speeds appear to be quite fast in 5th and 6th but since I don't know row crops I'm not sure.It's hard for me to imagine my tractor with 28 inch tires since the three point will barley pick an implment off the ground as it is.
