Oliver 982 Tractor

I was browsing through some websites and I came across this picture of a Oliver 982 tractor. It looks like it was sold for European market. Looks like it was built in the early 1970's with White decal on the front side of the hood.

I never knew that oliver had a such a model.

Has anybody ever physically seen one of these tractors? Does any body know or have any infomation on this odd tractor?

I bet if you read the serial number tag on that tractor, it would say, Made by SAME for Oliver. Last I knew Ollie Schaefer had a 462.

I do believe thats a SAME in Oliver paint. Doesn't AGCO still own rights to the Oliver name?

I have never heard of anything like that before. I'd almost think thats some overseas Oliver, but to be Green and white, I dont know. Maybe some guy over there was killing time in a shop and painted some foreign job green and white because he wanted an Oliver. Who knows. Anyone else got 2 cents on this one????

I think this is a tractor that SAME distributed as an Oliver for the European markets. I also know of a model 674 and a smaller 342. I have been trying to find more info on these tractors, but have not had any luck

Nothing at all odd about it. This tractor is indeed made by SAME of Italy. However, like Ollie Schaefer's tractor, it was sold and/or resided in The Netherlands. The domain in the website NL shows this, and I know personally all about Ollie's since I had the pleasure of acting as intermediary for him in seeking information from SAME in Italy. It is hard to get any info about them, though; apparently, they make tractors for many different badges and may not keep records that far back (1970's). Hope this helps.

PS: If you will go to that website (www.tractorpulling.nl) you will see two other Same-built Olivers as well, plus some other familiar American badges. This is tractor pulling in the Netherlands. It is all in Dutch.
