Oliver 60 fuel dumping

Ok, so I've rebuilt the Oliver 60 carburetor myself and have installed it only to find that when I crank over the engine to start the Oliver, it gives a shot of fuel from the bottom of the carb each time the pistons come around. So if the engine goes "crank... crank... crank...", the little screen thingee on the bottom goes, "spit... spit... spit...". Does anyone have an answer for this one? I've rebuilt a carb on an Allis-Chalmers D17 with a power needle and same company Marbel Schebler, but that one came out real nice and runs great!

Brewer If you would take the intake line off of the front of the carbarator and crank it over with the air breather unhooked from the carb. Also check and look inside of the carb. and check the choke butterefly to see if it is open when you crank the engine over, if the choke is closed it will always flood the intake with fuel. Also my thoughts are that if the intake is for some reason obstructed it will also cause the carb to flood just as if it were choked. Good Luck Shadetree.

That acts like a valve timeing problem or a burned or stuck valve.If the valves are out of adjustment you can see this too.
