I wasn't getting any charge on the battery of my 550 gas with original generator and positive ground. I put on a new belt--no dice. Took generator/regulator in and the man said it was shot: got rebuilt generator and new regulator. Put it on, followed the polarizing instructions to the letter and the "AMP" light is still burnng bright. Tried the little diagnostic tests for the regulator and all seems normal. Any ideas?

So when you put a meter on it what kind of voltage are you getting out of it?

Could the light be shorting out, some bad wiring?

Are all the wire connections clean, etc.
