Oliver Super 55-- Is It Worth It?

I am looking at buying a Super 55 (1959, I believe) with Davis loader and Davis backhoe for $750. The tractor hasn't been used in about 8 years and the motor appears to be locked up. The vertical exhaust was left uncovered. The frame has been repaired just in front of the motor. The rest of the tractor is complete and in decent shape. The loader and backhoe are in very good shape and show little use. Is this tractor worth repairing? Is this a straight forward motor repair. How hard is it to find parts for? Any opinions on this are appreciated.

I paid $900 for my Super 55 and over three years spent alot more in replacing a the worn out parts. I will admit I was getting a little discouraged, most of the problems with mine were because a previous owner ran the transmission without/low on oil.
However, I finally started mine two days ago and and it sure sounded sweet. And all that fresh green paint looks makes it look pretty damn good. I think itis time to open that pack of decals.!!!!! !!
It's funny though, I have a 16 year old German exhange student living with us and she get can't understand my excitement. My only advice is not to show the credit card receipts to the wife when your done!

The parts are worth much more than that. Sounds like a great deal. The external hydraulic control can go for almost that much. by the way, does it have power steering?

The backhoe alone is worth $750.

I'm not an expert but i would say it is well worth it as long as all the parts are there and the sheet metal is on good shape. Now you may have to do some searchin but those parts are out there. This is a great tractor for a collection and i have seen this tractor before(not complete and not runnin)sell for much more.

Buy it, spend 1500 or so on a running S55 and put the 2 together, will be worth 3500-6000 range i would guess. Being all std tractor with an add on kit means no paying for rare nearly one of a kind parts for a factory built job, example go get a est on a clutch job in a similar size JCB hoe. plus its a nice easy size. I say Jump. some county and airport models had a hydro-drive in front of the gearbox, put one of those + a garrison hydro steer on it, you cant buy anything like that new under 50,000 anydarnwhere
