I took some 9.50 x 15" SL's with 7" wide rims off a neighbor's JD and tried on my old style 1650 and they fit great and have plenty of room.

So I go to order some 15"x7" rims to find out they are no longer offered, only 6" and 8" wide.

I "think" the 8" will be a little to wide and "may" rub on the spindles or tierod ends (unless someone knows otherwise).

Will 9.50 SL's work on a 6" wide rim okay? the tire people recommend a 7" rim also.

Whether or not the rims/tires will rub on the spindle is a function of both the rim width and the offset. The offset is the position of the center part that bolts to the hub in relation to the rim center. So, you could have a 7-inch wide rim that would rub and an 8-inch rim that would not rub, and any other combination.

I do not know about the rims you are considering ordering so I cannot advise as to whether they would fit or not. Some rims are designed to be mounted with either side out, they usually have two sets of holes. With these you have a choice of offsets.

The 9.5 tires will be better on the 8-inch rims than on 6-inch rims.
