Oliver S55 Steering

I'm trying to determine whether the steering on my S55 can be tightened up. At road speed the front wheels start to shimmy and shake. The previous owner told me to disassemble the steering box and adjust the tolerance in the shaft. I have no shop manuel or owners manuel, any suggestions on where to start? thanks

There i lot of things to look a between the wheels and the steering box, loose wheel bearings,bushings,tie rod ends. The box self has an adjustment on either side for end play [a screw w/a locknut] these eliminate end play of gear shafts. If the steering has end play up and down there are shims at the bottom which cab be removed. Bearings also go bad due lack of lub, the lub is added through the upper bolt on the right side, this bolt must be removed on most older 55's. Good luck
