Oliver 70 wheels

I recently bought an old Oliver 70. Purrs like a kitten. Serial # 211341, I think 1937 model. Fenders gone, lights gone, but pretty going down the road in high gear at 5mph. Back wheels have spokes. Is this right? What size would original have come with? This is my first time here. Please be gentle if too dumb a question. I only see pics of solid hubs.

You have a 1937 model. 1937 is the cutoff year of the unstyled to styled Oliver 70. Are they round spokes or flat cutoffs? I have a 1939 Oliver 70 with flat spoke cutoffs and I have seen a Hart-Parr 70 with factory rounds. I am not sure on the size of the round spokes, but the steel was originally 55 inches. Your fenders should have a flat top when you find some. I have some pictures of Hart-Parr 70's on steel and with cutoff spokes that I will e-mail you.

Thanks so much for pics. The first one of the HP 70 is it. It shows all green, except mine is all red with red wheels. Could it be original? The spokes are flat. Thanks again. This one is going to be fun.

Does it have oliver decals on it? Oliver painted tractors 6 different colors in 1937 and had farmers vote on them. Green won. Olivers where available from the factory with 10x 36" or 11x40"

Fm: Yes she does have Oliver decals, but you can only make out one, which is faded. It says Row Cropper 70. So far I "think" that it is an HP 70 Oliver. The picture sent shows the wheels exact with the flat spokes, and the seat is the same also, which is good to know. It seems this tractor is quite original after hearing your news on the paint. The original red bothered me when all evidence I had seen pointed to green. Do you or anyone know where I can find more pics of it? I have looked everywhere. Hey, for an old guy, I think I'm in lust again. What a nice old girl she is. A heckofa buy at $350, eh?

$550 for my newest love? I'll sell my wife instead. She has 36" tires. Tractor that is. She's in n. MN. Still be danged if I can find another pic of her. You seem to have the only one. Did get to Hastings today to order a book though. Interesting about the magneto and governor and about how the 70 got its name from 70 octane gas. I'm learning. I will send you a pic of her if you like. Just have to get one first. Thanks for the offer, but I'd really like to work with her a little. Love that blub, blub, blub sound of the engine.

Jim, there are some drawings (sketches) of the red 70 in the latest HPOCA magazine. You might look at one of those. Somewhere I have a DuPont Classic calander with an "original" red 70. If I can find it I'll let you know. Good luck. Jim T
