I am attempting to locate data on the number of "chilled plows" made by Oliver every year from the 1850s thru 1915 (i.e. # made in 1860, # made in 1861, etc.).

Would anyone know if such data exists (i.e. company ledgers?), and if so, where?

Try the Floyd County Historical Society in Charles City Iowa. They have all the old Oliver company records that weren't destroyed. If anyone can help you, I 'd say they are the ones.

I doubt that you will find any of the information you're looking for in that time era at Charles City. Most of South Bend's records were given to the Studebaker Museum in South Bend. Most of the production records prior to 1929 have been destroyed. It was a private family business and those records weren't shared. I do know that at one time in the late 1800's, Oliver was building 600 plows per day.
