I found a 840 self propelled forage harvestor what is a fair price to offer the guy for it. Not used in 10 plus years but always sheddedDon't know if it runs.but engine is not stuck. What is the engine? How many were made does anyone still use them. I would buy it just because it is different not to use. What is fair price?

Larry,if you do not want it,I might be interested. I have a good pull type chopper, have always wanted a self propelled one to use to open up wide fields with.{make roads in the middle so I dont have to drive so far across the ends each time} Please e-mail me if you decide that you do not want it, as for the price I have no ideal. Thanks David

I have a parts manual for the 840 and it looks like it was built with a number of different engines.

Chrysler 440 gas
White 478 Diesal (Hercules)
G.M.C. 478 gas (V-6)
Continental B 427 Gas
G.M. 4-71 diesel, model 4055C

Larry, I don't know where you are but there is one of those about 7-8 miles from me and hasn't been used in some time. I keep thinking I will call the guys that own it but haven't. I know it is a diesel and has the Hercules D-5000, but don't remember much else about it. WB.
