Consider a 1950 with GM diesel - crack in block.
Can you still buy a new 4-53? GM diesel?
If so, how much?
Where?
Can you buy a used / rebuilt 4-53 GM diesel?
If so, how much?
Where?
How much would it cost for installation of the new motor?
Is the tractor worth anything in this condition?
If so, how much?

Thanks for the insight, Reaver

I agree parts and engines are easy to find. When you go looking keep in mind that detroit made this engine in several versions, the exasht and blower can be on either side or both on the same side.Be sure you can ask for the correct one.

If you can buy it right , an engine should be no problem , I know where a 4-53T is ready to go with less then 100hrs on it. I overhauled mine for about 3500$ a block would run around 300 or so. Detriot parts are plentifull.
