What would cause hydraulic pump on a 1755 to growl loudly? Also the hyd. oil temp light will come on after some use. Oil level and filters are ok, no leaks either. Is a rebuilt pump in my future or are there other things to look for first. Thanks

The most common cause of the overheat and growling problem is one of the valves will get out of adjustment and you will need some help checking all of the pressures right. The flow needs to be at 20 gallons per minute, the main relief valve needs to be set at 2500 psi., next the compensator valve should be set at 2200 psi., the detent valves should be set at 1900 psi., the priority valve should be set for 1500 psi. The main control valve should be taken apart to be sure that all of the o-rings are in good shape and not leaking internally. I have had one tractor that sump return line from the three point lift control valve fell out or broke out and fell into the reservoir. Every time the three point was moved it caused the oil to foam and cause the pump to cavitate (growl loudly from air in the oil) The best answer is to take it to a good repair shop where they have the proper equipment to test it properly reset everything that is out of adjustment unless you have all of the equipment to do this. Good Luck Shadetree
