Looking at a 1850 Diesel Cockshutt in what I would call fair condition. Considering to buy and use in my small farming operation. "Pro's" and "Con's" on this unit will be appreciated; like engine info, and other things to look out and watch for and recent going prices, etc.. Thanks in advance for responses.

This is the same thing as an Oliver 1850. We have two of these tractors an have grown to like them very well. They have a 6.354 Perkins in them. One of them is stock at 95 hp weighing about 10,500 without any calcium in the tires. The other one we added a turbo and turned the fuel to it. It is close to 180 hp weighed up to 14,000lbs. I can take a fully loaded silage wagon just about anywhere on our hills with this one. The stock one goes pretty good too. The only things we did to stock one since it was new was replace the hydraulic pump, clutch, and repaired the torque because the one metal sealing ring broke. We never touched the engine on it and it has over 6500hrs on it. It is very dependable and is still going very strong. The Cockshutts were just the canadian version of the Olivers. Going price of an 1850 Oiver is about $4,500 - $7,500 depending upon the condition
