Good evenin',
I'm trying to help my grandad get his 1940 Oliver OC-3 running like it should. I've conducted a compression check, and tuned it up with the usual parts, I converted it 12-volt, and it starts up with just a touch of the button. The thing will not pull a greezy string. It moves itself (barely) but I cannot for the life of me, get the timing to advance, or so thats my guess. The magneto is good, it starts to easily for it not to be, however it has no power. The tracks have recently been worked with the necessary components, and it runs until you put any type of stress or strain like engaging the clutches..... .is there a govenor stuck somewhere???, Any help you guys could provide would be greatly greatly appreciated.

Brian, Oliver did not make an OC-3 until 1951. If you have a 1940, you do not have an Oliver; you have a Cletrac HG; Oliver did not even buy out Cletrac until 1944. Between 1945 and 1951 it was an Oliver Cletrac HG. In 1951 the model was renamed the Oliver OC-3, dropping the Cletrac name

Hi Guys
I am way down in New Zealand
I have an Oliver Crawler with hydraulic blade - it is a three cylinder Petrol converted (i think it was converted) to 12 volt.
I use it for grading the tracks on my motorcycle park.
The engine runs really well and the blade works perfectly. My immediate problem is the gear box. Reverse Gear has given way completly. I think the bearing finally collapsed and it has I believe stripped reverse gear.
Does anyone know where I can get parts for the gear box. I will also need track running gear and a drive wheel (rear sprocket wheel) in the future.

Hmmmmm, kinda' strange about my owner's manual then..... .....where in the world can I find parts for this thing?? Zeus, I appreciate you giving me at least some information..... I thought I might have been the only one in the world who cared about these machines!!!!

Brian, there are about three people that I can recommend that you contact with regard to your little tractor. By the way, the owner's manual you have wouldn't perchance be an "aftermarket" job, would it? If so, I advise you to try to get your hands on an official factory issue manual.I believe you can purchase one from the Oliver archives at Charles City, Iowa.

The people I advise you to contact and their last known addresses, are:

Albert Duroe, 755 Duroe Street: Jesup,Iowa 50648

Landis Zimmerman, 1450 Diamond Stn. Road; Ephrata, PA 17522

Luke Rizzuto, 16205 Redwood Lodge Road; Los Gatos, CA 95030

These gents are all heavily involved in Cletracs and the third one listed is (or was) the president of the California Oliver/Cletrac Club. I am sure they will all be glad to help you.

And..yes, there are many of us out there who still love these old tractors! Have you ever considered joining Hart-Parr/Oliver Collectors Association or the above-mentioned Cletrac/Oliver group?

check the timing of the mag. I had that problem in past.The rotor needs to be lined up properly in mag.Check to see that spark fires when pistons are top dead center.I had it where it was only running on two cylinders and had no power and woul dbackfire a little threw carb.
