oliver 77 runs, but hunts

Finally got my 77 to run today after two weeks of trying everything I could think of. I put in a new carb kit, plugs, points and condenser. Got it to run after I pulled it. Boy was it missing! Was still only hitting on maybe three cylinders. Goofed around with the carburator setting and the distributor and finally go it to idle decent. It now has power underr a load but at higher RPM's the engine continually hunts. Could I have done something wrong or could I have problems with the govenor?

I confussed and really dont know what it could be or what to try next.

Any help would be gratful.

Dave there are a couple things to check,one is the bumper screw, the other is the throttle linkage between carb and governor. Check the linkage adjustment first. Set the throttle lever to max, if the linkage is 1/16 inch too long to fit easy it is just right, if not adjust the clevis until you get that measurement, if it still hunts adjust the bumper screw in a quarter turn at a time until you are satified. I have several Olivers, they seem to do better if the gorernar bounces two or three times. Almost forgot you should check to see if the linkage is binding. Hope this helps. Delbert
