Loosen the bolts on the fuel pump and see if it leaks when you pump the lever. If no leak remove the energy cells(plugs oppisite injectors)and look for wetness, which means a bad injector. If they are dry then replace the small fat oring in the injector pump that seals the fuel in.This oring is under one of the plugs its hard to describe where, check out a manuel.

most likely is the lifter pump diaphram is leaking, take it off and pressurize it, see if it leaks. could possibly be an injector, but highly unlikely, piston rings would hold the fuel and since its upstream of the pump, its not going to set and run fuel out, unless your talking massively worn and failed parts, and this engine will not run well. since its a machine fit inside the pump, if its not the lifter pump, its off to the diesel pump shop. no user serviceable parts inside, anything in that pump that controls fuel is not for the avg workbench. but its the lifter pump anyway.

I had the same problem with my 550- it was the "lifter" pump, not the injector pump. I couldn't find another pump, but got a nifty electric fuel pump at NAPA for about 30 bucks, and it works great.

The old style injector pumps have many servicable parts in them, without disturbing the high preasure parts.I have done it several times on differant tractors.

not familiar with all fuel systmes, i can only nod and agree. mostly Bosch, and copies of such. but for instance, there is a Mack pump, that if it is taken apart in the feild to reseal a common leak, can end up costing 3 tons to fix it.
